A30 Kennards House to Five Lanes road safety improvements

What to expect

• full carriageway, lane, and junction closures throughout the works
  traffic lights will be in use
• from 7 September, one lane will remain open in each direction, with 40mph and 50mph speed limits in place during the scheme
• free recovery available 24/7
• some bus routes will be affected
• a number of full overnight closures, with a signed diversion by Launceston, Carkeel Roundabout, A38, and Carminow

Delays are expected, especially on Fridays and weekends. Please allow extra time for your journey.

Closures

5 to 10 September – A30 in both directions between Five Lanes and Kennards House

Fully closed overnight (9pm – 6am).

7 September to March 2027

One lane on A30 open in each direction 24/7 with 40mph and 50mph speed limits in place between Kennards House and Five Lanes.

23 September – A30 westbound between Kennard’s House and Five Lanes

Closed overnight (9pm – 6am).

30 September – A30 in both directions between Kennard’s House and Five Lanes

Closed overnight (9pm – 6am).

Junctions closed during works

We also need to close these junctions along the route during work.

4 September 2026 to January 2027 – A30 westbound side of the Plusha junction

Closed 24/7 from 6am on the 24 September 2026 until January 2027.

Please remember the short diversion route won’t be available during A30 full closures while this junction is closed.

7 September to November 2026 – eastbound side of the Polyphant junction into Holyway Cross

Closed 24/7 from 6am on 7 September until November.

There’ll be further road and junction closures to the end of our work in March 2027. We’ll publish information here when we have firm details.

Buses

Our work at some of the junctions will affect bus routes.

During the overnight closures at Polyphant Junction the last bus will be led through site by our team.

During the closures at Plusha junction buses will have access through the works via the services to join the A30 westbound.

The eastbound bus stop is in Five Lanes / Altarnun and is unaffected.
